To see the full book pitch, please email selstadamy@gmail.com.
When her homeland suffers years of floods unleashed by Poseidon, Scylla decides it’s time to take matters into her own hands. No other gods or heroes come to the rescue. All hope is lost until she hears a prophecy about an immortal woman destined to protect their land. Seeking answers, Scylla is led to the witch Circe, who reveals to Scylla that she is the prophesied woman who will transform if she steps inside a pool of potion. Before Scylla accepts, Circe warns her that her immortal form is unknown and she could die if she lacks divine blood. Faced with these risks, Scylla remains determined. She is prepared to die if it means her people have a chance to live.
However, nothing could prepare Scylla
for who or what she would become...
Set in the mythical world, Scylla reimagines the sea monster with six heads from Greco-Roman mythology, named Scylla. Now featured in illustrated prose, Scylla is a young woman who transforms into a sea monster to protect her village from the sea god’s wrath. This new interpretation will bring to life her human past, speculating on the reasons behind her transformation and the consequences that follow.
